Research and Inspiration

Here are the films or TV shows I've got inspiration from for my opening scene...

1.Stranger Things:

The 1980s themed thriller series has inspired me visually, and I really wanted to catch the vibe of the night when my main character leads the opening cycling in the dark streets at night. Young kids cycling at night has become almost like a Stranger Things trademark and my shot reminded me of the show. Additionally, a in my opening, a young kid mysteriously goes missing, which is exactly what happens in the opening of Stranger Things too. I subconsciously wrote my opening without having this in mind, but later realized I was relating to the show.

2.Scream:

The classic horror series carries dome similarities to how I approached my opening scene. First, considering my film is called "Shrill" which means "Scream" which is relating to the shape of the mask the killer wears in the movie, reminiscent of the famous painting, "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. It also represents the screams the victims make when they confront the killer. In my film, the phantom Baphomet produces
the eerie screams! and disappears, along with its victims.

3.Riverdale:

I've never watched Riverdale, but after looking at my concepts for my villain, the Baphomet, my friend told me its similar to the Gargoyle from the show! and I kind of agree. Although my costume is way less professional, but it does carry the same vibe of the Gargoyle. The horrific skull is what twins the two characters.
