Neglected Narratives
I had written 12 different narratives for my opening scene, so here are some of my favorite ones that were eventually abandoned.
1. A guy wakes up from a dream in the middle of the night, only to see the creatures from his dreams are standing all around him, leaning over. He screams but no sound is produced.
2. A person cries in the mirror due to depression and anxiety, and after their name is announced, they quickly wash their face and walks out to give a speech about depression awareness.
3. A mentally disabled boy walks in the halls of his school at night, making unsettling screams. the security guard walks in with a flashlight, only to see the boy running towards him in a horrifying way, and eventually killing him.
4. A man who lives alone wakes up and gets ready for work. As he is about to leave, he look at his bedroom to see someone sleeping in his bed. When he looks carefully, he discovers it's himself in bed, who is about to wake up.
5. A kidnapper records himself tying up and abusing a bloody victim. All this is playing on a VHS tape. It is revealed that the person watching the tape is the victim being abused in the tape, all fine.
6. A single take to slowly zoom on an artist who sits alone in an untidy and messy flat and stares hauntingly at the camera, and everything is revealed in a monologue.
7. A boy sees his dead father appear randomly in the fog of the night, thinking it was a ghost, but turns out his father was actually alive all this time.
8. A woman grabs a gun from her drawer and walks up to her bed and shoots at the person sleeping in it. Suddenly she wakes up and notices that it was her sleeping in the bed and she felt like she was shot in her sleep.
there were other cool ones too but I guess there were the ones that made the most sense haha.
