Demo Of Foundation Portfolio
We were assigned to shoot a short rough demo comprising of the shots we plan to use for our final project, IN SCHOOL!
Since I'm aiming for a serial killer artist who uses human blood to paint his paintings :)
I asked my good friend Umar Khurram to act in my shoot , because he was the only one free at the time. We had less time so I had to be quick with everything. I used the Art Room as a set since I needed the aesthetic on an artist.
After quickly managing to create a rough painting with red paint, I set up an easel with the painting and had my actor sat in front of it. We were assigned at very short notice so I'm not so very creative with the shots, and since I had no other actor , I used my own hand as the victim's bloody hand the artist is painting from, while handling the camera! but in the end , I was satisfied with the final result.
I used a vertigo shot in the beginning , adding unease in the viewer's eyes, and as it progresses, the shots cut along with the music's pace. An old vintage song fit so well here , so I chose Midnight, the stars and you by Al Bowlly, Ray Noble and his Orchestra, from The Shining soundtrack. To complete the vintage aesthetic, I added a dusty and grainy filter and effect too, and it went together well. The music stops when the artist hears a knock on the door, and in the quiet, puts his brush down and grabs the paper cutter to make his next kill. The non-blinking eye shots added intensity to the scene, and its also the usual perception of a psychotic character.
^The painting the Artist was working on , with BLOOD instead of paint!
Still deciding if this is gonna be my final idea,
but for the meantime I believe it'll be very interesting to watch!!!
